Foundation Fundraiser Raised Money For Research To End Debilitating Pain Of Migraine Suffered By Millions

New York, NY – On September 24, 2012, The Migraine Research Foundation held its first annual golf outing and fall benefit at the Brae Burn Country Club in Purchase, NY. On a beautiful fall day, 100 golfers enjoyed a round of golf to raise money for the Migraine Research Foundation’s programs. Following the golf outing, an additional 75 guests joined the golfers for an evening of fun. Over $200,000 was raised at the event.

The golf outing, sponsored by HETCO, drew golfers from as far as Houston, Chicago, and Ireland. The evening benefit, sponsored by Stroock, Stroock, & Lavan LLP, included raffles, a silent auction, and a live auction for a long golf weekend at the legendary Drenagh, a manor house in Northern Ireland. Other sponsors included: Triple Point, Citi Private Bank, Mizuho Securities, LeAnn and Peter Jacobs, CME, Credit Suisse, Larry Dorr, Goldman Sachs, Hess, ICAP, Ospraie Management, and Wachtell Lipton.

Although approximately 36 million Americans suffer from migraine, its causes are still unknown. In spite of the prevalence of migraine and its serious effect on individuals, families and society, migraine research is severely under-funded. The Migraine Research Foundation raises money to fund innovative migraine research grants to further the understanding of its causes, to develop improved treatment targets, and to find the cure. The Foundation also assists sufferers by providing information and support. Since all of the Migraine Research Foundation’s operating costs are underwritten, every dollar donated goes to fund migraine research and support sufferers.

TheMigraine Research Foundation has an established reputation within the international headache community, a focused mission, and deep knowledge of the migraine field. Since its founding in 2006, the Foundation has funded 28 projects.
