Raising Money for
Migraine Research
Use Your Social Network!
The easiest way to fundraise is just to ask.
Reach out to your family, friends, and co-workers telling them how deeply you care and asking them to donate to your personal fundraising page.
After you’ve received some donations, you can move to social media to increase your reach. Read our step-by-step fundraising guide.
Ask a group you’re involved in (your office or class, a team, book club, religious or support group, etc.) to work with you on this project. Have them reach out to their friends and family and share a link to the fundraising page.
Always ask donors if their employers have a matching gifts program. This easily doubles their donations to MRF.
You can turn just about anything into a fundraiser. Look for events to piggy-back on.
Anyone can join the search for a cure by raising money to fund migraine research. There are endless ways to fundraise. Choosing something that fits your time, physical abilities, and personal interests is the key to success and having fun.
Need inspiration to get started? Here are some fundraiser ideas.

Donate your birthday: Let your loved ones know that you’re giving your birthday to MRF. Set a fundraising goal, and ask for donations to MRF instead of gifts for your birthday.
Create a challenge: Dye your hair, climb a mountain, go vegan for a month, take ballroom dancing lessons, give up coffee: the options for a fundraising challenge are endless. Just let your friends and family know what you’re doing, and ask for their support.
Race for research: Like to exercise? Find an upcoming race in your area—a walk, run, bike ride, marathon or triathlon, and participate to raise money for migraine research.
Donations In Honor or In Memory of: Friends and loved ones can honor or remember someone special by making donations in their name. We’ll notify the person designated without specifying the amount.
Get the kids involved with bake sales, car washes, lemonade stands.
Go big: You can plan a bigger event or party and donate proceeds from a:
- Wedding, anniversary, or graduation party
- Multi-family garage sale
- Tennis tournament
- Wine-tasting event
- Bowling tournament
- Event underwritten by a local business
- Theater event
- Restaurant program
- Auction/white elephant sale
